Project Story
World Resource Institute is advancing environmental issues by addressing needs on several different fronts. These include sustaining forests, mitigating water issues, creating value in the business community through environmental sustainability, ensuring clean, reliable energy, supporting agriculture through sustainable development. As well, WRI focuses on the importance of our oceans. Our oceans are home to half the worlds species, adds $2.5 trillion each year to the global economy, feeds 3 billion people, and importantly, produces half the planet’s oxygen and absorbs a quarter of all carbon dioxide emissions. Books for Africa's goal is to supply books to help children receive access to an education and to opportunities. Educational access helps end the cycle of poverty and create a better quality of life than previous generations. Because of economic crises, poverty, war, malnutrition and lack of educational resources 40% of school age children in Africa do not attend school and 46 million have never set foot in a classroom.
