Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies. They give without regard to politics, religion, or ability to pay. Whether it is in communities devastated by fire in California, hurricanes in Florida, typhoons in the South Pacific or a cholera outbreak in Africa- Direct Relief sends immediate aid. They have delivered more than 1.1 million pounds of medicine and supplies, given more than 48 million doses of medicine and over $119 million in aid. Puppies Behind Bars
Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded veterans and first responders, as well as explosive-detection canines for law enforcement. Puppies enter prison at the age of 8 weeks and live with their inmate puppy-raisers for approximately 24 months. As the puppies mature into well-loved, well-behaved dogs, their raisers learn what it means to contribute to society and give a gift to a first responder or veteran suffering from stress and trauma.
